Planning
The nice thing about Lost Thunder is that the terrorists are all bunched up into a group, near the old church area, so that you can move your men into position quickly, and not have to fight your way through the map. However, the terrorists will spot you if you go too far up the road leading into the church. Make your team wait a bit farther down the road, or else on a side route. In fact, I recommend making a plan that runs the operatives up the side alleys so they can get closer to make a shot on the guards guarding the main entrance. Move another team up the side stairwell (that brings the team up to the side of the Church) and place them on hold at the foot of the level. In your plan, make sure that you have everyone rushing inside the church at about the same time. Silenced guns are definitely recommend here, and no snipers are needed. |

Execution
Move your men quickly into range of the terrorists, but hold off on your attack until everyone is in position (note that there might be a sniper in the tower and he's a vicious shot). When you give the go-code, take out all the guards near the outside of the church on patrol--be especially careful moving up the stairs. Next, be wary of the 2 terrorists that will run around inside the church--they're in a panic and can throw you off. Don't hesitate to shoot the tango with the first hostage, otherwise you'll lose the hostage very quickly. The last two hostages should be saved by a quick glance at your HBS and then a solid rush in. I like to take an extra 1 or 2 guys with me on that section because nailing the terrorists is difficult. Their positions change, and recognizing them on sight is pretty tough on the fly. If you can get in quickly enough, let your teammates do the work. |
