Interactive Interview #2:
With The Invisible Man

Date Unknown

:: [ 1. Since R6 uses DirectX6 does this mean it won't work on NT since it only supports Directx3? What about Windows 2000? It has DirectX6 support. ] ::
R6/EW require DirectX5, while Rogue Spear requires DirectX6. Until Microsoft releases a more recent version of DirectX for NT, these games will not run on it. We cannot comment on Windows2000 until it ships and we have a chance to test on it.

:: [ 2. Rainbow Six has various cheats such as map flaws, constants hacks, grenade throw issues, and the various ways to get unlimited ammo. What are you guys doing to help prevent this stuff in Rogue Spear? Also, are you guys putting in some cool easter eggs in the game? Wouldn't it be cool to see a reference to the Rogue Spear Retreat in Rogue Spear? ] ::
Hopefully the map flaws will not be in RS:-) We are working hard to not have any map flaws, especially ones that can be exploited for cheating. We have also eliminated the constants file which should take care of a large chunk of cheats. If we are made aware of other ways to cheat, we will do our best to eliminate them as well.

:: [ 3. I have heard that we can bind different keys to voice commands and other stuff but how does this 'binding" actually work? Will it work via a config file or will we have some sort of console like Quake? ] ::
There is an option screen that lets you change the bindings. It has a number of slots where you select the key and then select a wav file and a motion to go along with that key from a pull down menu. You can also preview the wav files to hear what they are.

:: [ 4. As it is now u can put 10 shots in the door anywhere even the top right corner of the door and that will make it open. I would like it better if u had to put the shots around the lock to shoot it open. Oh and in RS if shots can go through doors does that mean you fire1 shot with the eagle it goes through the door + it opens it?" ] ::
You can still just hit the door anywhere. After all, it's not necessarily just the lock; you could blow the hinges off, etc. Shooting through doors depends on the weapon and the door, but in some cases it is possible to put a single round through the door without opening it. In addition, depending on the type of glass and the round, it is possible to put a round through glass without breaking it.

:: [ 5. You guys are doing awesome things with Rogue Spear and I won't be surprised if you guys get "Game of the Year" this time around. Once you guys finish this project, can we expect you guys to take a break and play a lot of online games with us? ] ::
Thanks very much. Game of the year sounds great to us! I think you will see some of us again after we are finished. Most people will probably be taking a longer time off then last time though. Making 2 full games in the time it takes a lot of others to make 1 is hard work ;-) Keep a look out for us. Of course we're going to be on-line playing. I need to get my revenge on all those forum-goers ;-)
